Hi,
Really enjoying ULearn. Have discovered some great ideas, such as integrating ICT standards into geography and social studies, and skills for engagement from Tony Ryan, and I've learnt more about podcasting. Maybe a podcast could be part of our class Blog plan? Looking forward to the Term 4 lead teacher day so I can share some of these ideas and strategies with you all!

Useful Site for Population Pyramids and Learning Objects
This is a really good site for population pyramids for Asia and NZ - it shows actual pyramids and predicted ones, and shows the changes through animation.
http://www.census.gov/ipc/www/idb/
Also, have a look at the learning objects on TKI if you haven't already. There are basic geographic skills on there (useful for junior classes), also some decision making/best solution activities and a useful one for faulting and folding. You need a school log in and password to access them, but I'm sure Rosemary has done this for you. If not, access Rosemary or Sylvia about them.

Geography Games
I guys - I have created a new wiki for geography games made by my students.
At the moment there are mainly year 12 urban settlement games on there.
Be mindful - the games are made by my students!!! but it was a really good revision task.
If you want to join the wiki then let me know :) or at least get your kids playing the games :)
Have fun :)

Sharing sites and resources...
I was also wondering...
Do you guys want to become members of the Geographybylizz wiki?? This way we can all add links and questions for our kids to have a look at.
Alternatively, but I am not sure if this is doubling up...
We could set up a simple wiki that only we can see and upload documents to it for everyone to use???
What are your thoughts?

Thoughts for next lead teacher day...
Linda and I both commented that we were finding putting the High Level thinking into our Geography lessons challenging.
Maybe we could work on this next time by picking a couple of units to go through and work out where different things could be added in etc etc.
We could do this in the morning and then plan for our online collaboration project in the afternoon. or something ???

ICTPD Day
It has been great to catch up with Lizz. She has shown me heaps of useful ICT stuff to include into geography lessons, and it has been good to decide on a possible collabrative project between the three cluster schools for next year. Now I need to set up my own wiki for my classes (when I get the time)!
Thoughts about our Lead Teacher Day
Well, today has been very exciting. We have decided to do a collaborative project with our Junior classes next year using wikis, and we have made our own blog that we will be able to reflect on and talk to each other on.
I am really looking foward to contributing to this blog.
Yaa

My first blog!
This is so exciting! We have made this so we can communicate about geography and social studies!
Training at Epsom
Has been quite useful so far - am finally sitting down and designing a wikispace page for senior social studies. So far, I've only created internet links that will be useful; however, it's a start! Thanks for the help Liz
